This atmospheric fashionAnnemarieke van Drimmelen (photographer) and Geraldine Saglio (stylist) took inspiration from 1970s sportswear, colors used by Henri Matisse, and the style of actor Steve McQueen. Saglio describes the portfolio as “a mix of classic meeting a cool street world.”The team found a 1970s-style backdrop at Hippodrome des Arcades. It is a shuttered racetrack located outside of Paris. Van Drimmelen found beauty in the grounds’ aging elements, from its overgrown nature to marks of pictures that once hung on walls to an outdoor elevator with “windows [that] were so stained by age that they gave this beautiful soft light,”She keeps it all in her mind. “Those kinds of things I love as a photographer—just discovering these things that magically are so beautiful instead of trying to re-create that yourself. It’s just trying to have an eye for the things that are already there.”
