Men’s style and grooming by Yatan Ahluwalia: Grooming regimes for your body

Look at the lead code

Hair is short and curly. Faded on the sides, textured in center and top.

Brows are thick and well defined. Trimming at the ends.

Face: A four-hour shadow shave.

Body: Smooth and clean, with well-defined ab lines.

Other: Black and white underwear

Besides the face, it’s important to keep the skin on the body looking and feeling good.

The following personal care regimens are recommended by me:

The Daily Regime

A morning shower can wake you up and refresh your mind. A shower before bed can help you relax and get better sleep.

Use a soap or shower gel that you feel comfortable with.

Application: To ensure personal hygiene, apply the soap/shower gel starting at the face and ending at the feet.

You can tell if a brand is right for you by how your skin feels and looks. If your skin feels dry, greasy, itchy, or itchy after a bath, you should look for a different brand. Moisturising soaps or gels can be used all year round and are suitable for most skin types.

My tip: Use a cocoa butter-based cream to remove stretch marks caused by sudden weight gain or loss. It’s an effective remedy to get rid of fine lines and early signs of wrinkles as well.

The Weekly Regime

Target ‘problem areas’Like the elbows, knees, knees, ankles, and knuckles. You can also exfoliate your skin with a body or facial scrub to remove flaky skin.

To keep the areas looking lighter and prevent darkening – ensure you use an effective soap or shower gel on a loofah scrub then apply in a gentle yet firm clockwise and then anti clockwise motion.

My Tip: Use a back or shower brush to clean the areas where your hands won’t reach.

The Fortnightly Regime

A fortnightly oil massage will do wonders for you – it stimulates the skin, improves circulation, and relaxes the muscles.

Choose the base oil that you prefer, such as olive, mustard, coconut or any cold-pressed oil. This may then be infused with aromatherapy extracts – each of which can do a lot to stimulate both the mind and the body. There is a scent for everything – from energy to sleep!

A qualified therapist must perform therapeutic massages. Massaging is a science. Your masseur or masseuse must know where to go, how to press, and how to target specific problems.

A sensual massage should feel light and should not be done quickly. It is important to relax first, then stimulate the body.

You have the option of a quick massage at home, or going to a spa for a more relaxing experience. It doesn’t matter what, make it a regular part your monthly routine.

My tip: Always choose organic oils or infusions.

Seasonal schedules

Summer

You should keep your body as hydrated externally and internally as possible. You will feel refreshed and alert even when it is hot.

Use a moisturiser that is water-based, with cooling properties, if you feel the necessity to do so. There are many body lotions on the market that contain mint, aloe vera, and cucumber. These ingredients help to soothe the skin and reduce inflammations.

My tip: Increase your intake fresh juices, yogurt, probiotics.

Winter

Use a moisturiser or body lotion liberally throughout your body before and during winter. This will make your skin feel smoother and more youthful.

During the colder months, don’t expose the skin to very hot water, as this will deplete the skin of its natural oil and moisture. A warm, or mildly hot, shower should suffice.

My tip: Use a light oil that is easily absorbed if you are experiencing extreme dryness.

Hands

1. Ensure regular manicures – at least once, if not twice a month.

2. Make sure your nails are neatly trimmed, clean, and free of dirt.

3. You should not leave any nicotine, carbon, ink or other marks on your hands and nails.

4. 4. The hands shouldn’t smell of food or have any distinct odour.

5. Hand sanitizers are recommended for use after meals, when using public utilities such as elevators, doors, escalators, and toilets.

6. When handling products with strong chemicals or soil or other materials, gloves are recommended.

7. To treat dry skin, use a cream for hand (from lifting weights in a gym, working outdoors, or too much time behind the wheel).

Regular manicures will help keep your hands looking young and healthy. Apply a heavy-duty cream to your hands and fingers to prevent wrinkles.

Feet

1. Particularly if you wear open-toed shoes, your feet should be soft, clean, and well-maintained. A pedicure is recommended once or twice per month.

2. Apply a foot cream to treat cracked heels. Apply the cream at night before you go to bed.

3. If the skin between your toes or feet is beginning to peel, make sure to clean it after you have finished showering. To soothe the skin, apply a regular, non-medicated cream. Only apply a prescription cream to the area as directed by a dermatologist.

4. You can use a file to treat corns and calluses (available at most good pharmacies or chemists). These can be used to remove hard skin, as well as various types of calluses and corns. Before using, soften the area.

5. You may need to wear insoles if you have problems with certain footwear.

Foot care

Pamper & exfoliate: A monthly pedicure is a must – not just to keep your feet looking good and well maintained, but to also relive the strain they take daily. Use scrubs, once every fifteen days in winter to exfoliate and remove dead, dry and flaky skin – especially around the nail beds.

Refresh & hydrate: You can keep your feet smelling clean and fresh by wiping them well after a shower, wearing cotton (and not woollen) socks and occasionally dusting them with talcum powder – especially if you tend to sweat down there.

You can refresh your footwear by spraying anti-odour spray or placing odour-absorbing balls on them.

It doesn’t matter how cold it gets, you should not wear socks while sleeping. Let your feet air out at night. Apply a nourishing cream or oil-based moisturizer to your feet before you go to bed.
