Last month, Larry David – who famously hates fashion so much that he refused to be styled for the cover of GQ – made a glamorous appearance at New York Fashion Week. Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm host was photographed sitting frow and enjoying the moment.
Some people speculated that he was on the phone or filming the new season of Curb. David, however, has clarified these theories in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel. He instead offered a simple explanation for why he was covering up his ears. “It was very noisy,”He said.
“Let me explain how I wound up there,”David continued. “My friend’s fiance is a great fashion designer, her name is STAUD (Sarah Staudinger, the founder of the LA-based brand), she’s a wonderful gal. He said to me that my presence would be helpful. I said, ‘My presence has never been helpful anywhere. Wherever I am, it’s wrong. Everything is better if I’m not there. Believe me’. So I showed up. But, you know, me and a fashion show, it’s a little out of place. It was very loud music and that’s why I was covering my ears.”
Disappointingly, the writer and actor offered no explanation as to why, two days after the Fashion Week incident, he was spotted lunching with Timothée Chalamet. As they dined al fresco at a NYC restaurant, the pair were photographed sipping espresso martinis while sharing animated stories. You can look back at Dazed’s speculation about WTF they talked about here.
