Fashion industry joins Covid battle with auction to raise funds

Fashion models and fashion designers auction their clothes and jewelry in order to raise funds for frontline Covid-19 workers.

They raised VND2.6 billion ($114,575), which they will use to purchase medical equipment for hospitals involved in the fight against the pandemic.

Trang Le, chairwoman at the Vietnam International Fashion Week, organized a live-streamed bidding auction on Aug. 28 that attracted a variety of models, singers, and designers.

Model H’Hen Nie’s jewels fetched VND80 million, while actress Truong Ngoc Anh sold diamond jewels for VND130 million.

Le said: “In many field hospitals in HCMC, Covid-19 patients are in a battle to stay alive. We hope members of the fashion industry give a helping hand for people to win this battle.”

Vietnam has recorded 431,073 Covid deaths in 62 of its 63 provinces and cities as of Monday. More than 10700 people have already died.
